Build-to-Print Manufacturing, Backed by More Than 30 Years of Foundry Experience
Fusium is not positioned as the owner of the customer’s process or application design. We manufacture to customer and OEM drawings, models, specifications and acceptance criteria. Our job is to convert that approved definition into a sound, dimensionally controlled and repeatable heavy casting.
That does not mean manufacturing is passive. Experienced foundry teams recognize features that may create unnecessary risk: abrupt section changes, heavy local masses, difficult transitions, unrealistic tolerances or geometries that are sensitive to shrinkage and distortion. We identify those issues before production and, when appropriate, recommend manufacturability adjustments for customer approval.
Large Siphons: Manufacturing Discipline Matters
Large siphons are demanding cast components. Their geometry, mass distribution, attachment details and dimensional requirements must all be translated into a robust manufacturing route. Fusium’s experience helps protect the approved geometry through pattern and mold preparation, melting, pouring, cooling, finishing, heat treatment where required, inspection and final dimensional control.
The objective is not to tell an aluminum producer how to operate its transfer system. It is to make sure the component delivered to that operation reflects the approved design and the specified quality requirements.
Cast Steel Sow Molds: Repeated Thermal Service Starts with Casting Integrity
Sow molds are exposed to repeated thermal cycles and demanding handling conditions. The operating geometry is defined by the customer, but the ability to manufacture that geometry reliably is a foundry challenge. Section balance, local mass, shrinkage behavior, distortion and dimensional repeatability all influence the quality of the finished mold.
By reviewing manufacturability before production, Fusium can identify casting risks early and propose changes only where they improve the ability to manufacture the approved equipment consistently. The customer remains the design authority; Fusium brings the foundry judgment.
When a Project Needs More Than Manufacturability
Some projects require direct equipment-design expertise or a deeper understanding of the end user’s process, handling method or operating practice. In those situations, Fusium can work with long-standing technical partners who specialize in these areas and already collaborate with us on projects serving end users internationally.
This approach keeps responsibilities clear. Application specialists address the application. The customer or OEM approves the design. Fusium focuses on manufacturing the heavy cast component correctly.
A North American Manufacturing Partner for Global Aluminum Operations
The commercial focus is clear: Primary Aluminum Smelters, Aluminum Remelters, Cast Houses and OEM Equipment Manufacturers that need dependable heavy cast components rather than commodity castings. Large Siphons and Cast Steel Sow Molds are our flagship product families, supported by custom heavy cast-component manufacturing for other demanding applications.
For procurement and engineering teams, the value is straightforward: a supplier that understands heavy casting, communicates manufacturing risk early, works to controlled drawings and specifications, and can support repeat production and long-term replacement programs.
Bring Us the Drawing. We’ll Bring the Foundry Expertise.
If you are sourcing a new large siphon, replacing a sow mold or qualifying an alternate manufacturing source, send us the available drawings, specifications and quality requirements. We will review the manufacturing scope and identify the next technical and commercial steps.
